Actually, 506 is the Country Code for Costa Rica, not the Area Code. If you dial it from the US as though it is an area code (preceded by a 1), you will get someone in New Brunswick, Canada. To get Costa Rica from the States, precede it with the International Access Code 011.
Costa Rica has the equivalent of two Area Codes, 8 (mobile phones) and 2 (land lines).
